Bartsy's Mission:
Bring awareness to and reduce textile waste
- Consumers throw away 60% of clothing items they purchase within 1 year
- An equivalent of a full garbage truck full of textiles is dumped or burned in a landfill every second (92 million tons total per year)
- The number of times a garment is worn has declined 36% in the last 15 years
What You Can Do:
(That doesn't include donating to a thrift store)
- Purchase items you love in quality fabrics
- Purchase items you can wear with multiple other pieces you already own
- Keep your clothing and accessories in use for as long as possible
- Shop second hand often
What Bartsy Does:
- Uses exclusively secondhand textiles for every bag, outer shell and liner
- Sources secondhand finishings, such as D-rings and zippers, as much as possible and full time sourcing is underway
- All textiles locally sourced in the Southeast Michigan area
- Stays up to date on current data and environmental impacts
